An Amazing Athlete. An Amazing Feat

If you been a reading my blog for any length of time. You know
that I have had the blessing of knowing a beautiful lady by the name
of Trisha Pena. Trisha is the most amazing best friend a person
could ever have. She would be a blessing to anybody’s life.
By just being a part of your life. And she is an amazing poker
player. But what most people don’t know is that Trisha is an
amazing athlete in her own right. And that is the Trisha Pena that I
want to introduce to the rest of the world.

Back in 2004 Trisha decide it that she wanted to compete in a half
marathon. So with little or no training Trisha enter the “The
Tom King Classis”. On that faithful Saturday morning she set out on
her journey. And finish her first half. I will have to tell you
I done 2 half marathons myself. And I spend months training for a
race. To think that she did this race with no training is an amazing
feat. But she would not stop there. About a month later she
enter the Country Music Half Marathon. Once again she did a
great job. To me that was a short turn around to do a 2Th race.
Over the next few years Trisha would compete in one to two races
per year. Improving her time in each race. To the point where she
turn in a time of 3:25:52. In the 2008 Country Music Half Marathon.
Cutting over 30 minutes off her best time. To celebrate this
great accomplishment Trisha signs up for the 2008 Las Vegas Marathon.
That is a 26.2 mile race. On that day I was playing poker. Trisha had
signed me up to receive text messages. So I could keep up with her
progress. I have to tell you ever time my phone when off. I was
so excited. But when I got the text to tell me she has finished.
I was yelling at the top of my lungs. You will never know what an
accomplishment that is. Trisha I know that I have said this
before. I hope you know how proud of you I am of you. And you
should be to.

As 2009 came to an end Trisha finished her 10Th half
marathon when she completed in the Las Vegas Half Marathon. And
in September she completed in the Woman’s Half Marathon here in
Nashville. That was her 12Th half marathon in seven
years. That is an amazing accomplishment. By an amazing lady.

I Lived A Dream

As I begin this post I’m not sure where to start. So I will start back in the 60’s. Like many of my age I remember watching the Summer Olympics. And the one sport that amazes me was the Marathon. To see these runners compete in a race of 26.2 miles just was something to see. So many of them would keep running even after getting injured. As John Stephen Akhwari of Tanzania would explain after finishing last with a dislocated knee in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City. "My country did not send me to 5,000 miles to Mexico City to start the race. They sent me 5,000 miles to finish the race."
For some reason I always wish I could accomplish a great feat like competing in marathon or half marathon. But I NEVER would allow myself to dream that one day I could compete in a race of that type. But one day when I was visiting my friend Trisha Pena. She was showing me her medal that she was awarded for competing in two Rock and Roll half marathons in one year. I cannot tell you how proud of Trisha I was. But for some reason seeing that “26.2 Musical Miles” medal. I knew that I had to try to earn one. I even ask Trisha IF I could ever do a half. Would she do the first one with me? So after my weight loss and finishing my first 10K. I knew I was ready to start training for my first half marathon. So without anyone knowing I starting walking longer and longer distances. To the point in October I was thinking I was ready. So I took Trisha to dinner one night. So I could ask her if it would be ok if we did the Las Vegas race together. I know that she was not ready for that. But she said yes.
So on December 4Th we headed to Las Vegas. Arriving in the in the afternoon. As always a great room as was waiting for us at the Imperial Place. After shopping for our supplies for the week. It was time for bed. The next morning it was time to head to the Mandalay Bay for the start of the race. Trisha and I were in corral number 31. We had about a hour wait. I will never be able to tell how nervous I was. About 8:30 it was our turn. As we left Mandalay Bay the course headed north bound on Las Vegas blvd. That day the streets were lined with supporters cheering us on. That is one of the great things about this race.
As the race reach mile seven I started have trouble with my left leg and back. I was in so much pain. But I was so lucky to have Trisha by my side. Even thou at times I wanted to stop and quit, Trisha would not let me give up. Once again she came through for me. When we reached downtown that were we made the turnaround and headed south on the strip to the finish line. Trisha and I crossed the finish line with a time of 3:36:39. I was hoping to turn in a time of 3:30. If all the trouble I had I very happy with that time. And to say I was proud of myself would be a understatement. To say that I was able to achieve one of the things on my bucket list is so great.
But that was not the end of this trip. To celebrate Trisha took us to see Barry Manilow. And I have to say that was one of the best shows that I ever have seen. Then it was my turn. To say “Thank You” I took Trisha to see “Phantom- the Las Vegas Spectacular.” Wow what a show. Words will never do this show justice. Take it from me if you are ever in Las Vegas you need to see this show.

Then we were off Circus Circus for dinner. ( Don't laugh at me) Were we had reservations at The Steakhouse. I had found out that it was the top steakhouse in Las Vegas. The steaks and drinks were great. Trisha being the wine connoisseur that she is. She introduce me to Riesling wine. I never had this wine before that night. But now it is my drink of choice. It was a wonder way to end a wonder trip.

As I close this post I have to say "Thank You" to Trisha. Trisha I would never been able to do this with out you help. And thank you for believe in me and never leaving my side that day. To God thank you for giving me my friend and letting me live one of my dreams.

My Tribute to Nana

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. You have to forgive me. So much has happen over the last 8 months. And much of these things I am still trying to come to terms with. As most of you know I lost my mother in January. The following is tribute my niece Rebekah worte for her.

Thank you for being here today as we gather not to say goodbye, but to say see you later to a wonderful person. Even in death, Frances, my grandmother, my Nana is still with us. Whether it is a gerbera daisy blooming in the spring, a Rod Stewart song playing on the radio or someone enjoying a piece of watermelon on a hot summer day we can see reminders of her everywhere we look.

“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.” The word delight is defined as “something that gives great pleasure.” Nana was truly a delight to those who knew her and she delighted in living life. She loved to travel. She and her two closest friends, Jimmie and Johnnie, otherwise known as The Golden Girls, packed their bags and went to places many of us only dream of going. She always had a smiling face and a warm embrace to offer. My grandmother was one of the kindest, sweet spirited people I’ve ever known. Josh might beg to differ as she got after him with a fly swatter a time or two, but I’m sure he deserved it.

Nana was a strong woman. She survived a world war, a great depression, a civil rights movement, and she put up with Leon for 65 years; that in and of itself was a feat. She raised five great kids and helped bring up her three grandchildren.

She spent 20 years working on a street corner. She wasn’t the kind of crossing guard we fear. You know the ones blowing their whistles and waving wildly as you drive by. She was kind and considerate, impacting lives without even realizing it.

Nana loved to cook and we all loved to eat. She spent many hours in her tiny kitchen on Susan Drive whipping up this and that, making sure supper was on the table by noon every day for Papa.

It’s the little things that make up a year and the years that make up a life. It’s the little things that make memories and I have an abundance of those. As I prepared for today, I sat and tried to remember my earliest memory of Nana, but there are so many truly special moments that they all jumble up and I can’t recall which was first. My grandmother and I shared a special bond and I will never forget the times we shared. She was always up for doing what I wanted to and never rushed
anything.

Growing up I’d spend summers at her house where we’d walk with the ladies at the church and deliver meals on wheels. Whenever I was sick, I always went to Nana’s. She’d take care of me and cook my favorite meal – chicken and dumplings. In the later years of her life I’d spend at least one day a week with her going to the grocery, taking her to the doctor, cleaning the house, whatever she needed done. No matter how old I was or what we were doing, Nana always tried to make everything special. We often sat in the living room where she always had a good story to tell and advice to offer. When I needed a shoulder to cry on or just wanted to ramble about my life, she was always there to listen.

Consistent – that’s was Nana was. Always there for anyone who needed something, anyone who needed her. A friend, a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, and sister. Not many people are blessed with the opportunity to know someone steadfast and true like Nana was. We should all be thankful for the years we had with her. It’s hard to put into words what Nana meant to me and to everyone in this room. She was a special lady that will be dearly missed. I’m sure each of you here today could tell a story of how she touched your life. Nana wouldn’t want us to mourn her death, but to celebrate her life.

We may no longer see her, but she will always hold a special place in our hearts and is looking down on us from Heaven. I’ll end today by reading a poem she chose for her service many years ago.

Miss Me but Let Me Go.

Happy Anniversary to me! It was 1 year ago today that I made life styles changes that would have profound effects on my life. You see after many months my Dear friends Trisha Pena convince me that I could lose weight with her help. This after many failures on my own. And with her help by March 25th of 2010 I was able to lose and to keep off 50 pounds. I can’t tell you how my life has change for the better. Trisha I would to like say “Thank you” for all you help, support and love that you have shown for me over the last 4 years. I don’t know if I could have made it without you. Love You Trey

Music City 10k

Forgive me for taking so long to get this post up. But my life has been going through so many changes. Some good some bad. But the big news coming out of July
was my 4Th of July walk. As many of you know I competed in my 2Th 5k. And after the great time I had in that race I decided to see if i could do a 10k. So I entered the Music City Fourth of July 10k.This race took place in downtown Nashville. As always I was blessed that dear friend Trisha Pena took time out of her day to come down to show her support and to take photos of the race. If you would like to see the photos of the race. The course not a easy one but a very enjoyable one. We would start in front of the Sehermerhone Symphony Center. Head up 4Th ave then cross over the Gateway Bridge. From there the course would take us pass LP Field , The Metro Court House. Through downtown pass TPAC, The state capital and down Broadway. I'm very happy to say I turn in a time of 1:45:43.Not bad for my 1St 10k on a tuff road course. As always I must say " Thank You "to Trisha for all your love,support and believed in me. Trisha I could't have done this with out your help.

The Continuous Journey Home

As I continue to try make my way back to the life I once had. On June 12Th I took my latest step. I was able to take part in the C.M.A St Jude 5k road race. This was my 1st 5k road race. Unlike the 5k I did in April, the course for this race was through the streets of downtown Nashville. And it was a much tougher course then I was used to. At 8:00 the gun when off so we head down 3Th ave. Then we turn on James Robertson Parkway and took that thought the Bicentennial Mall. And as we turn on 6Th ave I hit the 1 mile mark. As I moved on down on 6Th ave and turn on Harrison St I had the biggest surprise. My dear friend Trisha Pena was waiting there to cheer me on. I have tell you my eyes were filling with tears as I saw that pretty red head cheering me on. After I left Harrison I when down 5Th Ave and turn on Jackson Ct. From there we when up 4Th ave where Trisha was waiting to cheer me on to the 2mile mark. I was able to hit the 2 mile mark with a time of 33:15. Then we when up Gay St for about 1/2 mile and turn around and when back down to Gay and 3rd. There we made the turn for home. When I crossed the finish line Trisha was waiting for me with a hug and bottle water. And I needed both. Because it was almost 9oF that day. And I'm so proud to say I turn in a time of 50:33. That betters my time from April by all most 4 1/2 min. At this time I would like to say "Thank You" to Trisha not only for the photos and coming out but for all your help. And to you for taking the time to read this post.

Day 5

Day 5 started at 5:45. But my meeting was cut short. You see Friday is always the longest and busiest day of a World Changers project. As the day begin it was my job to see to the last minutes needs of the crews. On Fridays I will spend the early part of the my day running from one site to the other. As the crews run out of material we try to use the left over material from the finished sites. By noon I had already drove 120 miles. That was more then I did on Tuesday and Wednesday combine. I told you I would be busy. But then lunch time came around i was only able to stop for 15 minuets. Because word came some of the crews were starting to finish up. Now my job became to run the unused supplies back to Metro Roofing. This year was a lot of stuff that need it to be return. And I was busy. But after 10 hour of nonstop running came the words I was dying to hear. We were done. I was so happy. I drove over 210 miles on Friday. This year Nashville was bless with over 280 volunteers from Tn, TX, Sc.Ne,Ar,IL,Ms, and Ga. These crews replace 10 roofs and did dry wall work for 4 homes that was flooded. But because these crews so fast they were able to rebuild 1 wheel chair ramp and do flood clean up for 10 other home owners. This was unplanned work that was need it so bad. This year we spent $ 40,000 on supplies.And we provided over $ 130,000 of free labor to Nashville. As i close this post i must say Thank You to all the volunteers who paid $280 to work in Nashville. And to Kevin and Le Ann Hale who work so hard to see that all the job sites done on time, To our host church Park Ave.Baptist Church. To my Friends who prayed and gave me support during this long week. And I would like to say Thank You to GOD for letting me be a part this week.

Day 4

Day 4 started at 6:30 with my daily meeting with Kevin and Le Ann. After that I hit the road hard. One of our crews need it supply to finish there job. A day early at that. So I when to Metro Roofing to get what they lack to finish that job. Thursday's are one of ours busiest day. As the crews start wine down. We runners will take extras supply form one job site and take it to a other site. And that what I did till lunch. I was so happy to have lunch today and be able to sit in a cool room. But after lunch I was back on the road. As it got hotter I got busyer. I when form job site to job site. Leaving what the crews need it to finish and taking what they didn't. And now 2 of our crews are done with one day too go. With any luck the other will be done early tomorrow. I sure hope so because today I got done at 4:00. And I drove 120 miles today. It was one long, hot and busy day. But I sure enjoy doing it. If i don't post anything till this weekend please forgive me. I will not be home till late. And I have to get up early Saturday morning. So I may not have time post anything till then. Thanks

Day 3

Day 3 started at 5:45 am. Yes I know it early! After getting up I headed to west Nashville. For my 6:30 meeting. But sad to say the rain came on the way over. So our crews were late to get started. With that my day was real slow till when the rain stop. And with that i was off to the races. Le Ann had me running all over town. Till lunch. And the crews really got to work after the rain. Many of the roof jobs the kids have the old roofing rip off. And had the new decking down. And are starting to put down the new roofing. I was able to get all my stop off around 12:00 and headed to lunch. After lunch I had a run 2 stops. So that keep be busy till 2:15 and then the rain came back. Work came to a stop again. With the rain so heavy everbody had to pull off the sites around 3:00. So my day ended early. I drove 91 miles to day. And a lot of work got done today. It was a good day all in all.

Day 2

Day 2 started at 5:30 am. Yes 5:30 I know it early. After getting up I headed back to west Nashville to have my 6:30 am meeting with Kevin and Le Ann Hale. At 7:00 all the work crews left the church to go there job site. And for me after my meeting i hit the road myself. And i spent the 1st part of the day running pant and supplies to one job site near downtown. Then when noon came around I when on lunch. And I got to spent time watching Trisha Pena get her tattoo finished today. She was only 6 blocks away from my job site. I have to tell you, Adam "The Kid" her tattoo artist is amazing. After lunch I was back on the road. Today was sort of slow. But i still drove about 100 miles today. And 3:30 I headed back home for the day. For what I hope is a goodnight rest.

Day 1

Day 1 of World Changers this year was a day of meeting. I had to report to Park Ave Baptist Church at 4:00 pm. For a series of meeting. The first meeting I had was with Kevin and Le Ann Hale. Kevin and Le Ann are the project coordinators.They are are my bosses for this week. The crew chef's and the runners met with them to discus about the work that had to be done this week. And 2Th meeting once again the runners and Kevin and Le Ann met to discus the work load we will have this week. This year Nashville is to bless to have volunteer from Tn. Ar. Ms. IL.Ga. Sc. TX. and Ne. And with that I headed home to to get some sleep. Because tomorrow will come early.

World Changers 2010

As week starts this is the week that I look so forward too. For next I will be working with the mission group World Changers (http://www.world-changers.net/). World changer is a student base mission project that repair the homes of people who can not afford the repairs them self. I have been bless to work with them for the last 6 years. Both here in Nashville and Al. and Mo. This years Nashville project will have over 250 students working on 10 roofing job sites and 4 homes that were flooded. This week I will be working as runner. It will be my job to run tools and materials to the jobs sites as needed.It hard and dirty work. But it means so much to the family that we sever. Please be praying for all of us this week. As far as the poker wars go. Not much as been going on. That is till May 12 when I put together a come from behind win. I was playing at Legends in Hermitage that night. As I reach the finale table I was 6Th in chips. But the one thing I have learn form my coach is when at the finale table just be patient and play you game. So I carefully pick the hands that I played. And before I knew it I was heads ups with the chip lead. And heads up is were I shine. With that I have my 49Th win with American Rounders.

Round 3

After I finish my walk in the Purity Moosic 5k Dairy Dash. I knew it was time to start my 3Th round of detox. As many of you know I have be able to lose 45 pounds with the help from dear friend Trisha Pena. And as I came into this round I was hoping to lose 20 more pounds. Unfortunately I pick a bad time in my life to try to lose weight. You see I lost my income for over 2 month's and other troubles I was having at the time add to much stress to my life. And with all this I was only able to lose 11 pounds this round. But the good think is I lost a lot of inches this time.My total inches lose for this round is 10 inches. Which is great because people are really taking notice of the hard work I have done. And that make me so happy. So with that I'm now training for my next 5k that I hope to do in the next few weeks. As I close this post I will do as I have done in the past. I would like to say " Thank You" to Trisha Pena. Trisha you have help change my life is so many ways. And for that I'm so bless. And Thank You to God for all that you have done for me the last 5 years.

Losses and Blessing

As I'm writing this post my eyes are filling with tears. And yes they are tears of joy and sadness. You see it was on this day May 17Th 2005 that I had my stoke. And on this day my life would change forever. As I look back over the last 5 years there have been many losses. But there have been many blessing too. I will not bore you with the losses. Because I lost everything. And I mean everything!!! But I will try to look to the blessing. Over the last 5 years God has given me many blessing. Each summer I get to work with World Changer. Repairing the homes of the elderly. And really love this mission work. In the winner on Mondays nights I work with Room in the Inn. Were we give 12 homeless men a warm place to sleep for the night and 3 meals. I was able to keep my parent's in there home for a few years. I found poker as a way to help in my recovery. Much to my surprise I'm pretty good at it. ( I know guys.I was pretty bad at first). And I have met many great people from my time at the table. I was able to travel to Las Vages 3 times. And see my best friend play in the W.S.O.P. I will never forget walking out of the Rio at 2:00am with a smile on my face.

But the great-es blessing I have receive is something that I have never had before in my life. At the age of 46 I found the unconditional love of a true friend. Someone who is there for you at anytime of the day or night. A true friend that there no matter what you say or do. Some one who holds you hand.When you can't even stand on you on two feet. Why God put you in my life I will never know. But I thank him ever day. And I love you my friend. Now as the tears are making impossible to see I will close this post out. As I do I must say Thank You to GOD for letting me stay on this earth for the last 5 years, And Thank You for all the blessing you have given me.

In the poker world there are a few player that can be called a king. The W.S.O.P has Phil Hellmuth. And the American Rounders in Nashville Tn has Von Moye. Von puled off the rare feat of becoming a back to back to back to back venue champion at Legends Bar and Grill. And what makes this so amazing is Von miss a few weeks of play. But because of his strong play he was still able to win his 4Th straight championship . So with that I must say congrats to King Von. Long live the king.

The next step in my journey

As I look at my life over the pass 5 years. It been a journey with many little steps along the way. As many of you know I had a stroke on May 17Th of 2005. And on that day my journey begin. The first step for me was to learn how to walk and talk again. Because after my stroke I was not able to do ether. But after many weeks of physical therapy and Gods blessing. I was able to complete that first step. And there have been many more scents then. And on April 10Th I took what I feel is my biggest step. As you know I have lost 45 pounds and I'm trying to live a healthy life style. So in March I started walking as a part of that life style. Much to my surprise really enjoyed it and I was good at it. And soon i was doing 3 miles in 75 minutes. Any it didn't long for to get down to 66 minutes to do 3miles. So with that I decided to try a 5k. I found out about the Purity Moosic City 5k Dairy Dash. It was being held a Metro Center. It was a great course to do a 5k, it was flat and fast. So on that Saturday Trisha and I met at the starting line. As we started I found a good pace and stayed with it. And soon I was crossing the finish line. I can not tell you how proud i felt when Trisha came up hugged me. Six months ago there was no way i could have done this. I was hoping that could complete the 5k in 66 minutes. But on this day I was able to do in in 55:18. As great as that was I still got work do. Trisha was able to do it in 44:32.. Again I have to say Thank You to Trisha for all you help. But for now I will be taking a break form walking as I will start my 3Th round of weight lost.

The drought is over!!!

Thank goodness the drought is over!! For the pass three months I have been on a win less streak at the poker table. My last win can on January 6Th. And it not that i have been playing bad because I came close many times. But I was not able to seal the deal. But all that change on April 5Th at Dave and Buster at Opry Mills. It was during the 1st game there that I found my self heads up at the final table. And as we when heads up I was only down 5 to 1 in chips. But with all the great coaching I have had over the years came though. And with that I was able to pull win number 48 with the American Rounders out of the bag. Now I hope that win 49 will not take so long.

As the new year started . I begin my 2Th round of weight loss. Back in October I used the same weight lost protocol that Trisha had used in 07 to lose 65 pounds. And I able to loose lost 24 pounds. So this time Trisha set a goal of 20 pounds for me. And after 47 days once again I was able to reach my goal. This time it was lot harder to loose the weight. I stayed at 255 for over a week. But Trisha would not let me give up. And with time the last 5 pounds did come off. So now I'm at 250 pounds and you can not believe how good I feel. I saw my doctor in March. And I have been on blood pressure medicine for 5 years. And when they took my blood pressure this time it was too LOW. ( What a blessing) So now I'm able to work out and walk with out the pain that I have had in the past. So now as I close I must say Thank You to again to Trisha. Trisha even my doctor tells me how lucky I am to have you as a friend. And I am truly blessed that you are in my life.

Back on December 30Th. I won my 46Th tournament with American Rounders. That win came at Legends bar and grill.

As we move forward the big news for December was my trip to the Las Veges Rock and Roll Marathon and 1/2 Marathon. And no I was not the one participating in the 1/2 marathon. I flew out to show my support for Trisha. Trisha has been doing 1/2 marathons for years. And in 2008 she completed in her first full marathon. And I felt bad for her because nobody was there to cheer her on. So when she completed in the Nashville 1/2 marathon back in 2009 I when down to the finish line so I could cheer her on. Well I had on ideal how big a deal this was to a marathoner.So with that I decided in June that I would fly out to Veges and surprise her. Now I will not bore you by telling you the whole story about how I pull this trip off. But if ever see me and would like to know just ask. ( It a great story) And to say this was a great trip would be a understatement. When I go Veges I stay that The Imperial Palace. Once again they took great care of me. And it dose not hurt that I won a $125 pot playing poker. And I got to see The Blue Man Group. That was my first time to see a Las Veges show. And Trisha was she ever surprise to see me there. She told me that she could not believe that some one would do that for her. As I wright this down,I can not wait to get back to Veges.

Room at the Inn is a homeless program that help the homeless get off the street.From Nov. to the end Mar. my church Grace baptist church will host 12 men or woman each Monday.We will give a warm place to sleep for the night.We feed them a hot dinner and breakfast.They can shower up for the night.And when they leave they will have lunch for the next day.This is my 6Th year with the program.Go to http://www.roomattheinn.org/ to learn more.And now back to the fun stuff (poker).On Nov 9Th Trisha Pena won a tournament at Dave and Busters in Opry Mills.( I think that was win #38) And for me on Nov. 7Th I won my 1Th tournament with the Last Call Poker League.So all in all November was a good month for all.

October was a big month for me.Because I made changes that would have long term effects on my life.But before I get in the heavy stuff I will talk about poker.On October 14Th I won my 46Th Am.Rounders tournament.And that gives me 49 tournament over all.And now to the big stuff.Back in 1992 I when to work as a over the road truck driver.And as the years when pass I gain about 50 pounds to come in at 294#.And after my stroke in 05 I have tyred many times to loose the pounds.I even when to the YMCA for year with nothing.And after seeing my Dr. in September I knew I had to do something.So once again I turn to my beloved friend and poker coach Trisha Pena.For those who do not know about Trisha I call her my poker coach but she much more than that.Over the last few years I have had a lot of heart break but Trisha is the glue that has held me together over this time.Trisha back in o7 started a life style change.And with this protocol and hard work Trisha lost over 65 pounds.So with that on October 9Th I started the same protocol.Trisha had set a goal for me of 24 pounds,which would bring me down to 270#. And after 47 days of hard work and lots of support from Trisha I reach my goal of 270#.I will tell you it was not easy but it was worth it. And when I saw the Dr. in December he was so happy with me.And has I close this post I must say Thank You to Trisha.Trisha I give thanks to God everday that he put you in my life.I hope you know how much I Love You.Trey

Wow it been 5 months sends I have written any thing on my blog.And I know that way too long.But you have to understand that writing is something that I have trouble with.But I going to try to do better.And so much as happen over the last 5 months so over the next few days I going to recap what as happen month by month.And with that we will start with September.On September 12Th I won my 45Th tournament with the American Rounders. And I was so happy to get the win after a month of so many close calls.And with that we will move to October in the next post.And again Thank you for taking the the time to read this.

Congrats to Trisha Pena on her big win in last nights Twitter Poker Tour.Trisha has not played in a few weeks.And boy did she played great.After taking a bad beat and being down to 4500 in chips.She played her game and came back to win the tournament and the $75.00 first place prize.As far as me I never had more then 5500 in chips .But I did hold on to get 8Th place.Once again congrats to Trisha on one of her best game ever,

Face The Ace

As many of you know Full Till Poker as a new TV. show called Face The Ace. On this show a amateur poker player goes head to head with one of the Full Till pros. To Qualify Full Till is running 180 player satellites tournaments.Well on the 19Th I played in one of the tournament and late in the game I took the chip lead and I won the tournament.So I advance to round 2 on the 23Th.And in that tournament there was 4138 player and only the top 165 would advance to finale qualifier.Well I was playing great and I had 45,000 in chips and was in 10Th place.So I just held on and only played great hands and was in 80Th place when the tournament close.So now I will play again on Nov.9 were the top ten player will be on the show Face The Ace and will play for up too 1,000,000. So wish me luck.

Win # 45 so close yet so far. I guess I was not a good student.

On Saturday I came this close to getting win #45.But I run into the Black Widow and her bite took be down. It happen in the 1St game.The game for me was not going very well.In early parts I just could not win a hand.But i held on I made the finale table and the cards started turning for me.And before I knew it I was heads up with a 3 to 1 chip lead.But I was heads ups with my coach (The Black Widow) Trisha Pena.In 3 years Trisha and I have only gone heads up 2 times.And the score is 1 to 1.Well this one turn into a blood bath. After Trisha took the chip lead only once did I get close.She had a 10,000 chip lead on me when I had K J off suit in the big blind.The flop came 9 9 J.So I when all in and she called me and show J 9.She flop a full house!!!!!To give her win # 35 with American Rounders.Then is the 2Th game Trisha won AGAIN.Giving her win #36 and her 1St back to back in almost a year.So in closing I guess I was not a very good student.Because the teacher took the student to school AGAN.And congrats to Trisha on two big wins.

Day 5

Day 5 started at 6:30 again.And after my 7:00 meeting I was back on the road. Day 5 is always the busiest and longest day of a World Changer project.In the early part of the morning I was seeing to the last minutes need of the work crews. I send a lot of time Fridays running from one site to the other.As a crew runs out of material we will try to use the unused material from the other sites.After about 5 hours it was tine to head to lunch.Friday we had pizza and it was good. Then we got the word that the crews were getting done.For me that meant I was running the unused material back to Metro Roofing.Once all the roofing had been return then it time for the clean up.For a few of the sites there dumpers were full. So I had to go to 2 job sites to clean up.The 1St one was easy.But when I got to the 2Th site there was more trash then I could get in my truck.So i had to get the other runner to help me.We drove to the other site to unload our trucks as we were unloading Kevin and Le Ann to tell us that we were done.It was 6:00 and after 11 hours I was happy to here those words.This year we had 175 volunteers who came from NC. SC. MI. MS. IL. LA. GA. AR. and TN.These crews replace 12 roofs and rebuilt 1 porch.In closing I would like to thank all the volunteers and Kevin and Le Ann Hale and Park Ave Baptist Church our host church.And most of all I would like to say Thank You to God for letting me be a part of this week.

Day 4

Day 4 started at 5:30.I had stayed at home Wednesday night so I got up early to get to breakfast on time.And after my 7:00 meeting I was on the road again.This year we used Walker Lumber and Metro Roofing for our materials.But once again rain in the forecast so our crews stayed tough.So I was busy keeping the crews with the material they needed.Each day at noon I was to meet with Kevin and Le Ann and have lunch and give a round down of how things were going.So after lunch here came the rain and I was thinking things mite be slow BUT I WAS WRONG!I got a call about 1:30 from Le Ann asking me to head to one of the sites because the crew was DONE and there was roofing to be return.I could not believe that any of our crews could be done that soon with all the rain we were having.About the time I got to Metro roofing I got a call tell me that a 2Th crew was done and they had roofing to return.That was incredible.So i was running hard to 5:00 and put on 123 miles.But we got a lot of work done even with the rain.

Well today started at 6:30 again.After I get up I head to breakfast and have me some pig. (Bacon)Breakfast this year has been good.And after that i meet with Kevin and Lee Ann Hale the project coordinators to see what need to be done for the day.So I head out for my 1ST run of the day.But then the rain came again.So ever thing starting slowing down again.Then it stop about 10:30.By then the crews were able to get the last of the old roofing off.And now most of the sites are ready to start with the new roof.With the rain stopping I was back on the road driving a total of 82 miles today.Wednesday is a 1/2 day so I was done by 1:00.So i will be staying at home tonight and sleeping in my own bed.Nice

Day 2 was a wild day.I was able to sleep in on Tuesday.( i got up at 6:30 I know it still early)And as the day started the weather was nice.And the crews were getting a lot done.On all of the roofing jobs the old roofing is rip off and some of the job sites we replacing the decking.But then the rain came and work came to a craw.I was staying busy till the rain came.But then around 11:00 the rain stop and the race was on.From then on I was running all around Nashville.I put on 118 miles on my truck and made 10 stops.I got done at 4:00pm.

This was the first day of World Changers and it was a long one.The day started at 5:30 am.( I know I'm nuts)And the first stop was Krispy Kreme doughnuts and yes the light was ON.(Sorry Trisha ha ha) And on to west Nashville where we are based out of.And today I make 7 runs and drove 143 miles.It was a busy day.I got done after five .And it was hot today.Last week the weather was so nice.But we had a good day and ever one was safe.So I hope tomorrow will go as well as today.

World changers

Over the pass 4 years I have work with the mission group World Changer.(www.world-changers.net) World changers is a student based mission project that repairs the homes of people who can not afford it.Last year I worked projects in Al. and Mo.And this year for the 1Th time in two years World Changers is coming to my home town of Nashville Tn.(whoo hoo)We will have 13 work sites and 175 students starting today.So for the next week i will be working as a runner.It will be my job to run materials and tools to the job sites.I really love this work and can not wait.It hard and dirty work but it means so much to the people your are helping.I hope to give up dates this week.So stay tune.

Im sorry to say on Sunday Night one of my best friends Allen Hopper lost is life.Allen and I had work many Monday nights with Room at the Inn.And he was in my Sunday School Class at Grace Baptist Church.Allen han been ill for many years and I know that he is home with his Lord.But it still hard to see him go.Allen we love you and miss but hope to see you again some day!!

To show how lazy I been i am finally getting around to tell you about my last 2 wins.Back on May 16Th I was playing at Cargnackers in Hermitage Tn.In the 1Th game i was having a up and down game but I stay in there and then I was heads up with a drunk donkey.(The story of my poker life ha ha)But i play my game and I slow played him and took him out for my 39Th win.Then on May 18Th i was at the Nashville Palace.And in the 1Th game I was having good time.I play one of my best games ever.And when we got to heads up I had a 4 to 1 chip lead on him and when on to get win # 40 with American Rounders.And I hope soon to be able to tell you about win #41.

Last week was a big week for me.On Wednesday and Thursday I work as a dealer at a casino night.I was working with Best Bet Events. (http://bestbetevents.com) On Wednesday we work at Gaylord hotel with 2300 party goers. I when 3 hours with on breaks.But we had a good time.And Then on Thursday we work in Brentwood.This time we had about 125 people and I work 3 1/2 hours.So I had a good pay day.Then on Friday I help my good friend Trisha Webb who was running the Knight Of Columbus Charity Poker Tournament. We had 51 player in this tournament and raised over $1000 to help buy wheel chairs for veterans.It was busy but fun night and Trisha did a great job.And with the money we raised many veterans will get new wheel chairs.

As I have told you I been a run of bad luck for weeks.But I hope that mite have change. Saturday was a good day at the table.Saturday I play 2 games with American Rounders.The first game I came in 13Th not much to talk about.But the 2Th game was much better!I was able to win some hands and I came in 3Th.That was my 1Th final table in a few weeks.And then there was the home cash tournament.My friends Matt and Dr.Reney hosted a game at there house this week.And let me tell you they know how to host a game!The Food (and there was a lot of it)was Great and the company even better.And as far as the game go's I had a good time there too.In the early part of the game I built a good stack of chips and held on too cash in 3Th place and double my money.In the late part of the game I when card dead and at times like this I always fall back on teaching of my coach and try to be patient so I real happy too come in 3Th. And I have to say this group of friends are some of the best people around.Once again I must say Thank You to Matt and Dr.Reney for hosting the game,and Mitch for bring the cards chips and tables tops.So it was a good time for all!

Country Music Marathon

I know that I have not posted anything for weeks and for that you will have to forgive me.As far as me not much as been going on.I been on bad run of bad luck in live play and on line.And my lap top was down for a week but it up and running now!But the big news in the last few weeks was the Country Music Marathon.I had 11 friends who walk or run the 1/2 marathon.10 of them were from my church.And the 11Th was my friend Trisha Webb. This was Trisha's 7Th 1/2 marathon.And she finished in a record time of 3:25:24 and that's with out any training and a new turfier course.So congrats to Trisha on the great finish we are proud of you!

Andy Bloch and the TPT

Tonight in the Twitter Poker Tour poker pro Andy Bloch was in the tournament.He was flying back to Veges from Europe.And he had a 5 hour lay over at JKF.When the game started I won a hand ever now and then but for the most part I was card dead.When we got to 27 players Andy was moved to my table.And let tell you it was fun to have Andy at our table.So when I got down to about $1000 in chips I was waiting for a hand to go all in with when I got K 10 off suit.Well I raised Andy re raised and the big blind when all in.Andy and I called.Andy showed pocket 7 the big blind showed pocket A s (wow).The flop came 10,8,5, the turn was a 5 and the river came a 10 giving me a full house 10 over 5 and the main pot.And with that I took Andy Bloch out.( me taking a poker pro out too cool)But after that I when card dead and came in 13Th for the night.But I will allways remember the night I beat a poker pro Andy Bloch!

Over the past few weeks I have been playing in a home tournament on Saturday nights.We been playing a $15 buy in with a $5 bounty.This weekend we had 15 players.For the most part I was card dead in the early part of the game.And i only had $4500 in chips at brake(we started with $6000).But I stayed patient and when it was all over I had won the tournament and the $105 1st place prize money.And I took out 6 players ( over 1/3 of the player wow) and made $30 in bounty's.That not bad $135 from a $20buy in. That go's to show you what my coach all ways says, that patience is the key to this game.And once again it pay off big time.

Tonight was the last game of season 2 of the Twitter Poker Tour.I was the points leader going in to the night.I was 38 points a head of 4 place.For most of the game I did not have any cards or chips.But I was patient and I did make the finale table but i when out in 9Th when I got pocket Q's and he had pocket As(oh well)And with that I most likely lost the points lead.The only player who could over take me came in 7th.But I did have 2 wins and $150 in winning so it was a good season.

On Monday nights I play at the Nashville Palace.This Monday was the first time I played in 3 weeks.And once again my bad luck came with me.It so bad that when i raised with K Q suited to $250 and 7 2 off suite called and hit 2 pair on the flop.But the good news was my friend Trisha Webb won the 2Th game.Trisha is one of the best player around and you do not wont to go heads up with her.On Saturday Trisha and I went head ups for the first time.I had a 3 to 1 chip lead on her.And she wipe the floor with me.So never go heads up with Trisha Webb you will be sorry!

In the short history of the Twitter Poker Tour there as been only one two time event winner. That is until now.Because I won last night game and the $75 first place prize.(wow that $15o in the last 4 weeks)When we got too the finale table I was 5Th in chips and I played my game and soon we were 4 handed and in the cash and I was 2Th in chips.And from there it was on.When we went heads up he had a 5000 chip lead on me.And slowly chip away his lead till he was 1000 ahead of me.And then I got K 10 suited in the small blind I raised and he called.The flop came K 8 K (WOW) I bet 2000 ( the size of the big blind) and he called.The turn came Q again I bet 2000 and he came over the top and when all in so I called.(What was I going to do)He showed Q J the river was a 6 I had trip King and the had a pair of Queens and I had a 40 to 1 chip lead.And 3 hands later it was over.And now I am leading the points going to the last week.I just hope I can keep it up.

As some of you know I work with a group called Room at the inn.Each Monday night we have 12 homeless guess for the night.Well Monday was the last night for the season.And one again I stayed the men.This was the 5Th night I stayed.And boy did we have a great meal.We had a cook out of hamburger and hot dog.And homeless love it.(And me too) So I spent the rest of the week trying to recover.But tonight it time for the Twitter Poker Tour.So wish me luck.

This has not been my week at the table.I have had bad weeks but nothing like this week.It started on Monday night.I only played the 1st game.And I was noting getting any cards and then I got pocket 10s and raised I got 2 caller and run into pocket Ks and As.And the As held up.Then Thursday night in the Twitter Poker Tour I was in a hand and I got pocket Ks and raised and got re raised and I called and she paired her weak A.and i was dead.then last night in the 1st game I was card dead and only had 2000 in chips when I got pocket As and I had 2 caller.And on the turn came a Ace so I had trip As but it gave on of the player a staight.Then in the 2st game I had pocket Qs and riased and had 2 callers and the flop came A J 8 and 1 of the caller hit 2 pair and i was dead again.As i said it was one of those weeks.What do you do.

It Monday so it time for Room In The Inn.After tonight we will have only one more night and we will be done till November.And after that I will be off to The Nashville Palace for the 2Th game with American Rounders.I have not been playing much live this week.But Saturday night I played in a cash game.Mitch who hold the games I play on Tuesday night host a game.And let me tell you he is a great host and cook.He grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and man there were good.I had no luck in the tournament.I only came in 12th.But in the cash ring game I only played hour but I was up 650.(that $6.50 hey it only .25/50. game gime me a break)But it was a great nignt.

American Rounders Showdown

This past Saturday was the first American Rounders Showdown of the year.In Am.Rounders we play for points.And the top twenty in points at each venue get to play in the showdown.This Saturday 343 player,our most ever came to the Nashville Palace for the showdown.For me I had a so so game.I started the game with 9000 in chips and for the most I never had any cards or chips.My best starting hand was pocket 9s and twice i sucked out a Ace high flush.Oh the second flush I got up to 18000 chips.but by then blinds were 4000/8000.So I lasted as long as i could.I finished 58Th out of 343 not bad i guest.The best part of the night was my good friend had the tournament director let everybody know that Sunday was my birthday and i was given a customize Nashville Predators hockey jersey.(Way too cool.The # was 59 the year i was born and the name on the back is suited.5 9 suited.I told you way to cool.)All in all it was a good night.But i hope to do better next time.

What a night

Last night was the first night for points.Each win with Am.Rounder is worth 500 points.So the best you can hope for is 1000 points.So last night it was back to Good Times to start the defence of my points title.Not much was going on the 1th game. I would win a hand now and then .But the turning point was when I got pocket Js.I raise and got 3 caller.The flop came K A 5 ever one check and I bet 2 players called.The turn came J and they check and again I bet once again they called.The turn came 10.And they check I bet and they all folded.And after that there was on stopping me.And I got win #37 and the 500 points.And in the 2th game it was about the same.But then I got pocket Js again.I was the last to act.The first player raised to 600 and I re raise to 1200 and he called.The flop came 10 J 8.I flop trip J he check and I check.The turn came 10 now i have a full house.He check again and so did I. The river was a 5 he once again he check and this time I bet 400.And after thinking about he when all in so I called. He show pocket 5s he hit his full house on the river.But I had the bigger one and double up.And before I knew it I won the 2th game.My 38th win and the 1000 points.What a night I hope i can keep it up till this weekend!

What a week on the tables.As you may know I play with the American Rounders poker league.Am. Rounders use a points system were player get points for there play.And after 8 to 12 weeks the top 20 from each venue will go to the showdown and play for a WSOP $500 buy in.And we have about 250 to 300 player.And only for the 2Th time Iam the points champion at one of the venue.I won the points at Good Times.(YES)And now I will have a extra $5000 in chips at the showdown.But the really big news is last nights Twitter Poker Tour.I have made the final table about 5 times and cash in 2 times ( a 2th and 3th). Last night we had 41 player.We start with $1500 in chips and for most of the night I had about 850 to 1500 in chips.But I just played my game and when we got to 16 player I had $2600 and I when up and down.And then we went to the final table and I had $5700 and was 5th in chips.But then I had pocket 8s and i raise to $3000 and the big blind when all in so I folded.( he showed pocket As)But I keep my head in the game.And then it was down to 3 players and I was 2th in chips and I got into a hand with the chip leader I has pocket 7s he had A K i flop trip 7 and got a full house on the turn.And from there I when on to WIN tournament and $80. Wow I have 36 win in Am. Rounders but this is my biggest win ever.Ps. Thanks coach I owe you a drink!

Room at the Inn

In Monday and for me that means it time for Room at the Inn.Room at the Inn is a program that help the homeless get off the street.From Nov. to Mar.my church Grace Baptist Church will host 12 men or woman each Monday night.We will give them a place to sleep for the night,we will feed them 2 meals let them clean up and give a lunch for the next day.This is my 5th year with the program.It a lot of work but is mean es so much to our guest.Go to www.Roomintheinn.org to learn more.

Yesterday was a so so day the tables.I played in 4 tournaments.In the first 2 game I did not do all that good.I had too many bad beats.(story of my life)Later that night I when to Good Times to play the 2 game there.Good Time is a good place to eat if you are ever in Nashville. It was a much better night.I came in 5Th and 3Th.And I believe that I an now the points leader there.If so I a now the points leader at 3 venues.But the big news from last night was my friend and coach Trisha Webb got her 29th win in American Rounder.Trisha is a great poker player and coach.(She has help turn my game a round)You can go to www.TrishaWebb.com to learn more.

Good night at the table

Well it was a good night at the porker table.In the 1st game I came in 15Th.I never had any cards.But the 2Th was much better.Not only did i get good cards but they held up.I got pocket Q's and J's 3 time each and they won.So when we got to 8 player I had about $30,000 in chips.But I when card dead. At times like this I go back to what my poker coach told me.( Coach all ways said Play you game.I have a great coach)And I did and when we got 3 handed and I $10,000 chips.And I just sit out and let the 2 big chips stacks take one of of the other out.So when we when head up he had me 3 to 1 in chips.And before I knew it we were even in chips.In the last hand I had A 6 in the big blind he called and i check.The flop was A 3 3.I flop 2 pair and check and he when all in and I called.He had 5 4 and on the turn and river he got nothing.And I WON.That's my 36Th win with American Rounders.(And my 2Th this week) It was a good week and I hope i can do as well tomorrow.

Hello and welcome to my world.My name is Trey Still.I am49 years old and live in Hermitage Tn.Up to 2005 use to drive a truck for a living.But on May 17 2005 I had a stroke.And now i spend my time doing Mission work and playing porker.Each summer I do mission with World Changer.They repair people home for free.Also I work with the homeless in the winner.The other major part of my life is porker.In 2006 I starting playing Texas Hold em in the American Rounders porker league.To date I have 35 wins and 3 with wins in a other league.I stared to playing porker as way get to out of the house and help with the rehab with my right hand.And because of my love of poker I have made some great friends who have made my life so wonderful.(and you know who you are)I all so enjoy Nascar.I love to go to the beach and last year I got to go to the WSOP in Las Veges and had the time of my life.Thank You for taking the time to read this.God Bless you all.Trey
